The Zion Narrows is carved out by the virgin river in Zion National Park. From late morning to early afternoon the sun is high enough to reflect off sections of the canyon walls creating a beautiful orange glow.
When I first heard of the narrows in Zion National Park it immediately went to the top of my must see list. At first I was going to make the hike in shorts and water shoes. Then I stopped by the visitor center and the reports of 39 degree water and 50 degree air temperature brought me back to reality. Luckily there are several adventure companies in the Zion area that rent gear for such conditions. It's highly recommended that a dry suit is worn for such cold temps. After getting equipped and suited up I can say without a doubt it's of of the best hikes I've been on.
