I am always amazed by nature. From the geological features of the landscape to animal behaviors. Every once in a while I find my self saying, how did that happen?! Sometimes is all part of Natures Mystery. This was the case when I went out hiking to make some winter landscape images at The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. I had heard about theses features, so my goal was to head out and find them. They are ice balls or ice boulders, not really sure what to call them. Some are pretty decent size from about the size of a bowling ball and others the size of one of those big medicine balls. I can only assume that these ice formations were created by washing up and down the shore with the waves rolling and forming these balls. In any event it's always great to explore and discover some of natures mystery.
This weeks image is that of the ice ball formations. As you can see there are plenty of them, and they are pretty solid! I kicked one to see what she was made off, and lets just say they can kick back.
